How many hours will it take?

The FAA minimum requirement is 40 hours of flight training. However, it will more than likely take longer than that to be ready.  To get your license, you need pass a written, oral, and “practical” test - also known as a check ride – where you fly with an examiner. The national average is somewhere between 60 to 80 hours of flight training before you will be ready.
