How much will it cost to fly after I get licensed?
There is no increase in cost after you become a pilot, unless you decide to move up to a larger, more capable airplane. Your first license will allow you to fly any fixed wing, single engine airplane that weighs less than 12,500 pounds (which is a pretty big single engine plane) and doesn’t have a jet engine. All the small planes you see flying typically fall into this category. If you want to fly a twin engine plane, you’ll need additional training to do so – and those planes cost more to rent.
You can rent planes from Fixed Base Operators or “FBOs” at many airports around Los Angeles.
